The event starts at the Tulloch Caledonian Football Stadium car park in Inverness. There will be a registration desk and participants will be checked in and allocated to a bus. Sponsorship monies will be collected at this point. It is very important to collect all sponsorship prior to the event. No one will fail as there are standby vehicles to help those overcome with fatigue or sore feet complete the challenge.

Buses will transport participants and bikes to the start of the challenge at Black Bridge on the A835. Please note that there is NO car parking available at Black Bridge.

The walk starts on the eastern side of the bridge on a surfaced road that heads north-westwards. The road passes a couple of buildings, continue on this road and go through the gate for approx 2 miles, at this point the road passes a farm at Lubriach on the right. Just after the farm there is a track on the right that heads uphill to the north where it is joined by a track from the right, turn left and follow the track as it climbs up to the top of Coir'a'Ghirianain above the dam of Loch Vaich.

Follow the track northwards along the eastern bank of Loch Vaich. After the old buildings at Lubachlaggan the head of Loch Vaich is reached. At this point the track turns to a more easterly heading. slowly climbing past the summits of Meall a' Chuaille and Meall a' Chaorainn. After crossing a burn the track starts a short climb up the shoulder of Meall a' Chaorainn. At the summit of the track ignore the track to the right and continue straight on and start descending for approx 1 mile to another junction. At this junction turn right and descend the short distance to Deanich Lodge. (distance Black Bridge - Deanich Lodge 10 miles)

From the lodge follow the track northeastwards to a bridge over the Abhainn a' Ghlinne Mho'ir. After crossing the bridge the track follows the northern bank of the river for approx 6 miles, passing through two deer gates and past two wooden huts. After the second hut the track starts to climb through some woodland before descending to a bridge over the Alladale River to the south east of Alladale Lodge.

Cross over the bridge to the T - junction in the track. Turn right to head eastwards through woodland on the northern bank of the Alladale River. After approx one and a half miles a road is met near Glencalvie Lodge, end of walk where buses will collect participants and return them to Inverness.

There will be way markers at each junction to direct participants to the correct way and toilets will be provided at the start, finish and at Deanich Lodge. Eight manned water stations / checkpoints will be provided throughout the route.
